RPS has been involved in the $2.85 million redevelopment of a key commercial wharf at Innisfail in Far North Queensland.
Our locally-based survey team was engaged by civil and marine construction firm Smithbridge to provide technical support services for the redeveloped wharf, which services the area’s commercial fishing, recreation and charter vessel operators as they head out to the Coral Sea.
RPS provided set-out and construction surveys for the new structure, including the piles, stair cage, dam, beams and concrete slabs. The wharf provides enhanced refuelling facilities, a larger set of loading stairs, better lighting, water supply and fire reels, all on a suspended concrete deck.
With a future-proofed design that allows for expansion if needed, Innisfail’s new commercial wharf will continue to meet the needs of the community long into the future. The project took approximately four months to complete and was officially opened in March 2016 by Queensland Treasurer and Member for Mulgrave, Curtis Pitt and Cassowary Coast Mayor, Bill Shannon.
