Gold Coast City Council Surface Water Mapping, QLD

Gold Coast City Council Surface Water Mapping, QLD

RPS was commissioned to produce a highly accurate map of surface water features and riparian vegetation suitable for inclusion into the Gold Coast planning scheme and examination at the micro level.

The project involved the detailed mapping of all surface water features and riparian vegetation in a wide variety of landscapes including man-made and natural watercourses, farm dams, and estuaries. The project used an innovative methodology that employed a variety of technologies and data sources including LiDAR, multispectral imagery and GIS layers. The high accuracy of LiDAR was exploited to determine where water should pond which provided a detailed integrity check of the data.
