RPS was engaged by Roche Group Pty Limited to provide town planning expertise, to manage the development approvals process and prepare the Statement of Environmental Effects for the construction of eight new mixed use buildings with 2.5 basement levels at 100-102 Elliott Street, Balmain. The proposed development included 104 residential apartments, 3,400sqm of commercial floor area, 18 serviced apartments, 251 car parking spaces and associated works including bulk earthworks, tree removal, landscaping, signage and remediation.

The project had many significant challenges including its 150m frontage to Iron Cove and its scenic location, irregular lot shape, frontage to three very different streetscapes/landscapes, changes in topography across the site, existing views from surrounding properties, substantial canopy trees located across the site, contamination and traffic management.
