Brolga Lakes is an integrated peri-urban community in Burpengary with sustainable lifestyle, economic and ecological benefits, situated on the northern shores of Moreton Bay.
The project envisages the creation of village uses including farmer’s markets, conference and educational activities, café, temporary accommodation, 49 hectare rehabilitated Koala Corridor (gazetted as a Biodiversity Development Offset Area), rural production area, on site sewerage treatment and irrigation, 200 residential dwellings, and a substantial lake network.
Brolga Lakes will break new ground in the creation of mutually enhancing the relationships between people’s lifestyles, rural production and the surrounding natural environment. The landscape is a key element in binding these relationships and revealing the natural qualities of the site. The landscape will facilitate the engagement and discovery, while providing a robust quality to ensure sustainable public engagement.
