RPS prepared detailed design documentation for the major hospital redevelopment to both Whiston & St Helens Hospitals procured under HMG’s Private Finance Initiative featuring numerous specialist departments and regional facilities.

The new Whiston Hospital consists of 860 beds, comprises a six storey development with plant rooms strategically placed each housing ventilation plant, electrical switch rooms, heating calorifier stations and DHWS calorifiers.

The departments within the new building include Accident and Emergency, Medical Wards, Gynaecology Wards, Paediatric Wards, Surgical Wards, Orthopaedic Wards, Plastic and Bums Wards, 10 Operating Theatres, Out Patients, Oncology and Administration/Storage Areas.
