RPS provided structural and civil engineering design services for this prestigious German manufacturer of window and facade systems.
This 100,000 ft2 building provides warehousing for the storage and distribution of aluminium and PVC-U facade sections together with administration and technical office facilities within the main three storey frontage building. High bay storage was provided within the 20 metre high cassette warehouse.
A structural steel trussed roof solution was adopted for the main warehouse with spans of up to 35 metres. Underslung craneage was provided in many areas. Automated craneage required low tolerances for the steelwork construction and design for the lateral movement of the frame whilst in operation.
The office facility incorporated reinforced concrete wall panels behind the SCHUCO glazed facades to provide thermal mass.
