RPS provided architectural, engineering and highway design services for this 100,000ft² high-spec, high security facility.

This heavily serviced, two-storey secure facility comprises research & development areas, offices, meeting room suites, control rooms, restaurant, safe areas, overnight accommodation, vehicle maintenance unit and workshops.

The facility is equipped with a comprehensive security system and the client specified a robust services requirement. The building also needed to secure a BREEAM Excellent rating in line with the Government’s agenda for sustainable development.

Internally the finishes and staff facilities were considered important elements by the client, who required the creation of a high-spec office environment. This incorporated the introduction of double height voids and top-hat windows to bring natural daylight into the building and restaurant, with gym and breakout facilities incorporated for the staff.

The design team members were subject to CTM Security Clearance (Counter Terrorism Measures) at the client’s specific instruction.
